Q: What is Digital Dentistry?
A: Digital Dentistry is a solution utilizing the most proficient technology when providing a range of pathways dentists or dental laboratories can choose when engaging from CAD services (Crown, Inlay, Outlay, Bridge, Veneers and Implants), Intraoral or Tabletop Scanner solutions and milling machines.
Q: So are you equipment sellers?
A: No, Afterburner Dental Technologies is not an equipment reseller; we are a complete pathway solution provider. We are not just selling scanners, milling machines or software. Our mandate is to provide that latest and most proficient digital equipment as to help dentists and dental labs increase their volumes and standardize the quality of their laboratory production.
Q: I have desktop scanners already. How can you speed up our production?
A: ABDT also works closely with dentists and dental laboratories to promote the digital pathway at a clinical level. The fastest and most affordable way to provide restorations is to produce them by a digital workflow. A fully digital workflow will allow you to increase production, reduce manpower costs, reduce shipping and handling charges as we also supply intraoral scanners to dentists and reduce turnaround times to the dentist. Your dentists (or our members who are looking for a digital lab) once members will upload scans to our design hub and the CAD will be sent directly to your laboratory for production. All CAD must be viewed and accepted before production and if any modifications are required you simply request ABDT to make them and then re-check before production.

- So are you competing with the services of a Dental Laboratory?
- NO! ABDT is not here to replace your dental laboratory. We streamline the process from the clinical phase educating dentists on proper tooth preparation methods for an ideal restoration, through Shade Taking and cementation processes that are specific to the planned restoration (standard cements, bonding resins, dual-cure cements etc). The digital workflow is encouraging dentists to buy in-clinic milling machines so laboratories need to become more involved and engage with dentists keep that connection solid. That’s where ABDT helps you. ABDT helps to embed you laboratory into the heart of the dental clinic.
- So if it’s already happening in dentistry why should I use ABDT?
- Simple:
- ABDT is the only bespoke solution provider where you as the Dental Technician and the Dentist have total control of the production pathway from the initial planning stage, tooth preparation, intraoral or desktop scan right through to milling. ABDT works hand-in-hand with you. The planning stage also includes implant dentistry and surgical guide production so now the technician can become more involved with implant planning.
- The most difficult part of the process is making an aesthetic restoration with the right shading. Dentists are limited in their understanding of taking a shade and usually provide limited information with a questionable photograph! ABDT has the industry leading Shade Map solution where we send you a colour map with your CAD file so now it’s as easy as “paint by numbers”. This gives the technician a colour corrected image from which the shade map is developed.
- ABDT offers desktop and intraoral scanning solutions with a custom built laptop that links you directly with ABDT headquarters. This laptop is also a direct link between the dentist and a real ABDT team member for all your service needs.
- All other CAD/CAM solutions expect either the dentist or the laboratory technician to take time away patients to carry out the steps already explained above. ABDT understands time cannot be wasted hence our motto “as precious as time”.
- ABDT provides CAD and CAM services, assists with fabrication and works with global partners for scanning solutions (intraoral and desktop), milling solutions and the latest milling materials for “Same day” restorations.
- ABDT helps dentists and technicians properly shade restorations and most importantly will provide web based training and education on all the products and material we recommend including ideal clinical techniques ranging from tooth preparation to recommended cementation techniques.
- An ideal tooth preparation that meets the reduction guidelines for specific materials with clear margins is the foundation of a well-fitting and durable restoration. Everything a dental laboratory needs to make great restorations!
- ABDT has variable pricing solutions so if you do not need your CAD immediately then the cost is reduced. For busy dental laboratories we also offer Block Pricing where you can pre-order a block (see website for block sizes) and benefit from further price reductions. Blocks range from 1000CAD to 10,000CAD.
- ABDT can return a completed CAD to a technician in under 30 minutes anywhere globally for urgent cases or, if speed is not paramount, you can benefit from our Variable Pricing options that are turnaround time dependant.
- With new data protection laws ABDT offers secure CAD storage solution options also so you’re data is always safe with ABDT.
- ABDT Help offers back end support, via our bespoke laptops provided with our scanning equipment, where one of our service engineers can remote log in to check any issues with an intraoral scanner, desk scanner and even a milling machine. They will then create a report and arrange assistance. If it is a software issue ABDT will deal with those on an urgent basis (usually when they log in).
- ABDT solutions at every level offer savings in cost on traditional re-seller pricing but as a concept no other company provides this degree of 1-to1 service.
- How do you join?
- Simple go to our website www.afterburnersolution.com and fill i n the membership form.
- How do I pay for membership and services?
- All our services are clearly priced on the website and payments are taken via PayPal.
- Does ABDT invoice for services?
- In order to remain competitive we invoice at time of service on smaller or individual CAD requests. For significantly large Dental Laboratory orders arrangements can be made and this requires CAD block orders in excess of 1000CAD per week.
- What if I am not happy with a CAD?
- ABDT requests that whenever you receive a CAD it must be reviewed by the dentist and approved. If any changes are required then simply resubmit with you your list of changes needed. The CAD will be re-drawn for you to again review. We only sign off on a CAD when we get the approval of the clinician.
- How long does a membership last?
- 1 year then renew online. Renewals are always at a reduced rate.
- If I have multiple Dental Laboratories could ABDT help us set up Group Membership?
- Yes,
- If I already have a scanner (intraoral or desktop) can I still work with ABDT?
- Yes, as long as your scanner generates a fully open .STL, .PLY or .DCM file.
- If I already have a scanner and a Milling machine will ABDT provide support?
- As this equipment was not provided by ABDT so we cannot provide any hardware support. You would need to install Team Viewer onto your hardware to discus CAD but we will not access your scanning or milling equipment.
